Performance Rating
What is Performance Rating?
For over 100 years work measurement has been used in industry and commerce and one of the fundamental techniques of work measurement is Performance Rating.
It is important to understand that the purpose of work measurement and Performance Rating is about measuring the work content of the job, not simply the time taken.
Measuring work produces data that businesses need for costing, planning, staffing, capacities and budgets.
If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.
As people are infinitely variable, there needs to be a means of quantifying their work content (whatever that work may be) at a common, consistent standard. Performance Rating is a vital technique, which adjusts the time taken to produce that consistent standard: Standard Performance.
The need for Performance Rating
The concept of Standard Performance carries across all business sectors – it’s universal in its application.
